Simple process, lower capex, easy materials handling
Utilises a dry stacking method, no tailings dam (most sustainable method)
Preferred raw material feedstock for the advanced battery supply chain
Mixed hydroxide precipitate, or MHP, is the name given to a nickel and cobalt-containing intermediate product derived from laterite ores. The MHP product from Sconi is expected to be primarily used as a raw material input for advanced lithium-ion battery production in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
Interestingly, MHP contains valuable nickel (typically 34-55% Ni content) and a small amount of cobalt (typically 1-4.5% Co content) and is a higher value concentrate product further reducing its environmental footprint.
The Sconi Project will utilise a proven, industry standard, processing flowsheet to extract and beneficiate the nickel and cobalt laterite ores. This flowsheet to produce MHP at Sconi is utilised at various other established MHP product operations globally.
